MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN (Process/Offsites/RS&L)
Mechanical Foreman or Senior Mechanical Technicians

1. Basic Function and Scope
Carries out the skilled maintenance, overhaul and repair of Plant and equipment in their respective assigned Process or Offsites areas. Includes regular monitoring, disassembly, repair and reassemble of equipment as well as implementation of modifications.
2. Tasks and Duties
a) Carries out the skilled maintenance on such items of Plant and . equipment as gas turbines, compressors, alternators, steam turbines, pumps, fans, boilers, vessels, columns, .heat exchangers, LNG storage tanks, loading arms, flares, flares, filters, valves, etc.
b) Uses a variety of tools and measuring devices, such as hammers, wrenches, pneumatic tools, high pressure jetting and drilling equipment, grinders, calipers, feeler gauges, micrometers, verniers, clock gauges, dial indicators, etc. In accordance with permit to work system. Ensures that tools used are correctly calibrated. Must be able to work to very close tolerance .
c) Ensures that materials and spareparts are available and in good condition before starting maintenance activity .
. d) Carries out routine preventive maintenance of machinery and static equipment according to schedules, check lists and specific equipment requirements. This includes changing oils, cleaning strainers, replacing filters, greasing and general overhaul of equipment. Repairs and or replac~s defective parts, reassembles overhauls equipment.
e) Carries out a wide range of corrective maintenance and repairs as a result of condition monitoring checks or failures of equipment. This includes the dismantling of various static and rotating equipment, the repair, the equipment reassembly and the recommissioning.

f) Carries out other similar or related duties such as modifications, installation, pre-commissioning and commissioning of new equipment, involvement in commissioning of new Projects handled by Third Party.
g) Makes routine checks to ascertain faults in Plant and machinery by feel, sight or sound and carries out minor. repairs as necessary. Notifies foreman of more serious malfunctions.
3. Work Contacts
Internal contacts on frequent basis with personnel of equivalent and slightly higher level in maintenance, operations and safety.
4. Independence of Operation
Works in accordance with established procedures and specilised technical standards. Completed work is spot-checked by Sr. Technician and Foreman for compliance with standards and work specifications.

95% walking, standing, climbing and driving.
90% carrying and using medium weight materials, equipment and tools.
Work Environment
100% non air conditioned plant environment exposed to prevailing weather conditions of heat, humidity, grease, dirt, noise and fumes.

8. Minimum Requirements
a) Completed Secondary (12 years) Education followed by 2 years formal courses in mechanical crafts.
b) .Nlinirnum of 4 years mechanical crafts and maintenance experience in an oil or gas process plant.
c) Fair working knowledge of English.
