SAFETY TECHNICIAN Role Summary Roles at this level assist to ensure the provision of a safe and environmentally complaint work environment for all Qatargas and contractor personnel in an assigned area of the operation for both on and offshore. This assistance includes monitoring safety and environmental procedures. Delivering basic training programs and carrying out field inspections. Further to this the trainee shall develop the skills to carry out routine inspection and maintenance of SEQ related equipment. Key Accountabilities Performance Measures Inspection & Testing Undertakes regular inspection, testing and minor maintenance of all fixed and portable SEQ equipment within an assigned area of responsibility in order to ensure optimum operational status and readiness for use. Such equipment includes open circuit self-contained breathing apparatus and supplied air breathing apparatus systems and portable air and water monitoring equipment. Deficiencies and irregularities identified and acted on Surveys & Audits Assists in carrying out surveys, inspections and prepares basic reports on operational practices in order to ensure high levels of compliance with safety and environmental procedures Inspections identify non-compliance Quality of reporting Work permit Monitoring Assists in the monitoring of the activities of maintenance and construction crews carrying out work under permit to work systems in order to ensure full compliance with stipulated conditions. Full compliance achieved through monitoring Non - compliance identified and acted on Safety and Environmental Awareness Interacts with operational and contractor staff through work and training activities in order to promote safety and environmental awareness and encourage the adoption of more complaint work practices Measurable increase in compliance Emergency Response Role Assists and participates in the conducting of emergency exercises in order to develop and enhance individual and team response capabilities as required Supervise assessment of capabilities and performance during exercises. Levels of Problem solving Typically, role holders will solve routine task specific problems through the application of standard operating instructions and precedents Decision Making Role holders will work to well defined and specific operating procedures with decision making being guided by reference to these Supervison Duties are carried out according to allocated work schedules and isntructions with regular supervision and detailed checking. Knowledge and skills Role holders will be expected to the experienced in the field of industrial safety and capable of undertaking the full range of responsibilities following a period of familiarisation with Qatargas equipment policies & procedures and practices. They will have well developed technical skills, the ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English Education and Experience : High School graduate followed bya 2 year Technical Preparation Program (TPP) course or 5 years relevant experience.
